Burgos – Hornillos del Camino 21km / 13 miles
Left the busy city for the peace and heat of the Meseta. Still walking with the ladies; Martha from Westbury, Serena from Calabria, and Diane from Alberta.
Easy walking, mostly flat and very hot and dry. Passed through medieval villages working the last days of the season’s harvest. We landed in Alburgue Alzar and were warmly welcomed into a family home. A clean bed, cold beer (or 2), and a shower – I feel golden.
My little feet are holding their own. The body is feeling stronger everyday. I was told, the Camino is measured in three stages. 1st – the physical. 2nd – the mental. 3rd – the spiritual. I am transitioning into the mental phase. The Meseta will be a challenge. It’s flat. Dry. No shade. All sun.
190 miles into this Camino, I believe, God willing, I will reach Santiago.
